Figure 1 of the article is not an idealised portrait of Gonzalo de Berceo, nor is it located at the Instituto de Estudios Riojanos, as stated in several sources. Rather, it is a depiction of Vincent de Beauvais (1190-1264), from Jean de Vignay’s French translation of his work Speculum historiale, published in Bruges.
